The suit is sharp, the shirt crisp and the leather on the shoes burnished. Now it’s down to the final touches, particularly the slickest of watches. At last I got the chance to do a proper fashion story in BRUMMELL magazine after working as a fashion assistant for 2 issues. I have to thank Dominic Bell, the art director of Brummell, who gave me this opportunity.

For the watches & jewellery issue the theme is ‘Horology’. I was commissioned to produce the main style section and 2 double-page spreads on women’s and men’s watches. I’m very proud as I could say that all fashion stories in this issue were all styled by me. What an amazing opportunity!

The main story and a story on women’s white watches was shot by Bruce Anderson. He’s one of the best photographers I’ve work with – precise, efficient with immaculate results. The story is the life of a businessman keeping track the time from dawn till dusk.

The fashion story included an amazing range of suits and overcoats from Alexander McQueen, Bottega Veneta to Giorgio Armani, and an incredible leather briefcase from Bally and a mock-croc briefcase from Burberry.

I also made some small props for the women’s watches page by making geometrical forms. So in this issue on the upside, I had fun calling in and cutting things up, while the downside was a desire to buy an IWC watch that was absolutely over my budget with a price tag of £13,500. Well! I don’t have that much money to spend now but it doesn’t mean I won’t have that much money in the future.. I keep telling myself everyday :-)

The magazine has already come out to subscribers of Dow Jones’s Financial News. I’m very happy with this Brummell issue. These are great fashion stories for my portfolio. Another small step closer to the heart of UK fashion industry!

ST MEN’S STYLE (SUNDAY TELEGRAPH)

This might not be a main fashion story or the cover for a magazine but I’m very proud to work on ST Men’s Style. One of the best men’s style magazine from London produced by Show Media for the Sunday Telegraph, not to be confused with the Sunday Times, this one from the Telegraph is much classier!

I have to say big thanks to Ciara Walshe for giving me the opportunity to work on this issue. She’s an amazing senior Art Director at Show Media who works on all ST magazines from ST Fashion, ST Kids, ST Watches & Jewellery to ST Men’s Style.

Worked for Harper’s Bazaar, ELLE and Wallpaper* in Asia before doesn’t guarantee my success in the UK. This’s small step with ST magazine is a big leap for me, a step closer to a chance of working for Vogue one day. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

IT’S NOT AS EASY AS IT LOOKS

A special 2 double-page feature on smart packing for The Quarterly spring 2011 issue proved to be one of the hardest jobs in February. The simple 2 images packed with fashionable products, such as t-shirts, handbags and sandals, took over 8 hours to create.

It might look very easy at first glance, but this kind of work requires a very special skills and experience in selecting the right products, placing them in the right combinations, and matching colours . The studio that day was like a shop front with a wide variety of products for me to play with in the story.

The hard part of the job was folding and adjusting every crease and wrinkle in the most stylish manner. Every single piece had to have some paper or something folded inside just to make sure it looked neat. I’m very happy with end result and all the hard work I put into the shoot – the images look effortlessly amazing!

MY ASST WORK IT!

It was a test shoot for photographer and model in March. We working with lots of beautiful clothes such as Prada, Dries Van Noten, Jil Sander and many brands. But the most interesting thing of the day was my assistant that he was absolutely fierce in those pose!

We worked with Canadian and Russian girls to produce beautiful fashion spreads for 2 magazine. The shoot went on in the morning and finished in late afternoon a usual. After the shoot, my assistant had an idea of doing some picture of himself with LV clothes that we had just like the LV’s advert.

I thought my assistant were FIERCE than madonna ;-p as he dressed more stylish with bangles from Burberry, bag and hat from Chanel. Only one thing missing, he hasn’t got that long Madonna legs! Anyway, I think my assistant is very cute and funny. He alway made my hard and stressful job become entertaining thing to do. Wasn’t you love him too ;-))
