Femininity has became a feature of menswear over the past few years and today it is the focus of Lanvin’s winter 2012 collection. Lanvin’s masculinity is no longer about having strong shoulders or a strong body shape to communicate male strength. They are now beautiful and curvy. The man of the 21st century no longer follows the classical rules.

Lanvin’s men this season come in the most feminine shape men clothes could offer today. Big round shoulders and small tiny waists are the key silhouette. There are also big flared trousers with high waists just like in the 70s, but updated in woollen fabrics with a palette of olive, burgundy, grey and black.

Not only has the shape of men been redefined, Lanvin also offers the new trend of matching sport parkas or a bomber jackets with the tuxedo suit. There is also the use of boxing boots through out the collection mixed with casual wear, business wear and also evening wear.

Briefcases are the key bag at Lanvin this winter 2012. They come in Napa leather and crocodile leather options. While sporty boxing shoes play a critical role in the show with many materials used, including cowhide leather, nylon and snake skin.

This is one of the most interesting collections for studying in terms of the relationship between masculinity and femininity.

นี่คือหนึ่งในคอลเล็คชั่นเสื้อผ้าผู้ชายที่วันนี้ได้กลายเป็นกบฏต่อกฎเกณฑ์ทุกอย่างของเสื้อผ้าบุรุษที่ตนเองควรจะต้องเดิน ไม่มีคอลเล็คชั่นไหนอีกแล้วในวันนี้ ที่กบฏแต่ก็คลาสสิคได้เท่า Lanvin

I had a chance to visit the Purple PR office in London for a preview of SS’12 men’s collection and I came across lots of amazing items that’ll definitely be HIT not a miss for the season to come.

Lanvin menswear never disappoints me, they aways live up to their young fan expectations. It seems sandy yellow and burnt orange are the IT colours at Lanvin. They’re using lots of interesting materials, such as modern neoprene, delicate linens and silks. There’s also use lots of complex dark shades ranging from deep brown to navy and pitch black mixs with tribal graphic prints, which somehow reminds me of Dries Van Noten but with a much more sporty approach.

One of the items that stands out is a pair of shoes that took inspiration from brogues and platform espadrilles of Prada, but Lanvin vamped them up with shoelace stitch detailing, just like Sally from the Nightmare before Christmas.

‘White’ still remains a STATEMENT for summer (again!). There are so many to-die-for white pieces at John Varvatos for your head to your toes. I love wearing white in summer, and I would definitely recommend those who love white to check out this collection. I can guarantee you will love them!

There’re lots of very cool pieces from Mihara Yasuhiro as well, such as this chunky cotton knit cardigan with a cotton trench coat sleeves, trompe l’oeil leather rucksack, straw hat with burn out detailing, and shoes made from leather covered with canvas torn off at the front.

The best piece in this collection, in my opinion, is a pair of shorts made from 3 to 4 t-shirts. They look so cool and I love to have them now! I took a picture of the shorts but it’s a bit blurry so I thought this look book picture would do them more justice.

Some more interesting pieces from the event are sunglasses collection from the collaboration of Dita and Thom Browne. These sunglasses are super cool, inspired by old-style 40s, 50s and 60s. They are very expensive though, the PR told me they will retail for about £700 – £1,000. So I guess if you looking for something covetable and exclusive, you should take a look at this collection.

There’s also new specs collection from Ksubi. I’m so in love with ‘Skeleton’, a chunky transparent frames with bold graphic lines. If you are a fan of ‘Super’ sunglasses, you will love this collection definitely. I reckon the glasses will retail for about £200 – £300.

This is my latest editorial work that I’m really happy with. It’s for the May issue of a Thai magazine called ‘Dichan’ – and it’s just out this week. The concept is supermodels. The girl, Joy Vararak, is a top supermodel in Thailand from the 90s.  The photographer and I decided to photograph her in many different styles as we could.

The shooting required a lot of research for each outfit. We took 14 pictures with 14 styles. The photo shoot started very early in the morning with a lot of make up and hair going on with Joy.

The Photographer, hair stylist and make up artist I worked with were some of the best in Thailand (Nat, O-lek and To) without them the shoot wouldn’t have been finished in 7 hours.
