‘From Paris to Tokyo’ sums up everything about Louis Vuitton’s winter 2012 collection. The Giorgio Moroder’s song From Here to Eternity echoed out over the runway, accompanying a blissful procession of Vuitton’s men. LV’s men are now officially sophisticated übersexuals.

This is the second collection by Kim Jones, the English Designer who took over from Paul Helbers at the helm of menswear. This season Jones offers business suits that are fitted to the body, while the outerwear and knitwear are slightly oversized. There are many elements of sport wear in this collection, such as basketball-style jackets – made from horse leather with the sleeves made from suede.

Waistcoats made from Kimino are the key part of this collection. The Kimono fabric is hand-made in Japan at a rate of just 20 centimetres a day. Jones called it the “Ultimate luxury”.

One of the highlights in the show is the playful use of LV’s woollen blankets to make scarves, jackets and overcoats with a palette of vivid blue, mustard yellow, silver grey and red burgundy.

หนึ่งในไฮไลท์ของโชว์คือช่วงที่ผ้าขนสัตว์ลายกราฟฟิคที่เดิมถูกผลิตเพื่อเป็นผ้าห่มกันหนาวได้กลายเป็นผ้าพันคอของฤดูกาลนี้ และมันก็ค่อยๆเจริญเติบโตกลายเป็นเสื้อแจ๊กเก็ตตัวสั้น และท้ายสุดการเป็นเสื้อโค้ทตัวยาว ในโทนสี น้ำเงิน เหลือง เทา และแดง

The accessories play a crucial role in this collection too. LV’s Epi leather bag has been updated in a variety of shapes. There’s also a new print design of torn robe on Damier leather small luggages, and the use of dip-dyed bird feathers as a key chains for decoration. The shoes are the most talked about part of the show, decorated with polished metal toecaps with suede, horsehair and cowhide material options. These have to be the most stunning formal shoes of the season!

This is by far the most beautiful menswear collection LV has ever produced. ‘Marvelous’ would simply be the most appropriate word for the show.

นอกจากเสื้อผ้าที่น่าประทับใจแล้ว เครื่องประดับประเภทกระเป๋าและรองเท้าในฤดูกาลนี้น่าสนใจมาก กระเป๋นหนัง Epi ได้ถูกอัพเดทเป็นรูปทรงหลายแบบ และประดับด้วยพวงกุญแจที่เป็นขนนกย้อมสี แต่ดาวเด่นสุดๆของโชว์นี้คงต้องเป็นรองเท้าที่มีการผสมแถบโลหะที่หัวและสันรองเท้า  นี่คือรองเท้าที่ดูทันสมัยที่สุด แฟชั่นที่สุด แต่ก็ยังดูเป็นทางการและเรียบร้อยที่สุดเช่นกัน

Louis Vuitton ฤดูกาลนี้โดยการออกแบบของ Kim Jones ถือเป็นหนึ่งในคอลเล็คชั่นเสื้อผ้าผู้ชายที่ดีที่สุดที่ Vuitton เคยมีมา ไม่ต้องแปลกใจเลยถ้านิตยสารผู้ชายทุกฉบับจะพูดถึงคอลเล็คชั่นนี้ในฤดูกาลที่จะมาถึง นั่นก็เพราะว่า ‘มันสวยมากกกกกกก จริงๆ’

Anselm Reyle x Dior

A Berlin-based German artist who is known for his large scale abstract paintings and ‘found-objects’ sculptures is now collaborating with Dior to produce a capsule spring collection. The collaboration is just happening at the right time to freshen up Dior reputations after the bad press received due to the Galliano controversy. The capsule collection of bags, shoes, costume jewellery, sunglasses, small leather goods, scarves and beauty products will hit stores on 9th January. Check it out! I think the Lady Dior in metallic purple and the camouflage brushes are very cool.

Michael Van Der Ham x Christian Louboutin

A talented new Dutch designer who graduated from Central Saint Martin and worked for McQueen and Kokosalaki before debuting his collection at the London Fashion Week. His spring collection is a combination of colour prints on satin chiffon, so amazing that Christian Louboutin agreed to use the print on his shoes. Check out his shoe collection and remember his name. I’m sure he will be the next big thing.

Marni x H&M

The traditional fur company that was reinvigorated by Consuelo Castiglioni into a contemporary fashion house in 1994. Today Marni not only produces fur garments, but everything from head to toe, and sell its products globally. Expect amazing prints and incredible combinations of colour palettes. I’m sure there will be plenty of awesome dresses for girl and many cool jumpers and shirts for men.

Jason Wu x Target

A Taiwanese designer who grew up in Canada then graduated from Parsons. Wu started his debut collection in 2006 and won the Fashion Group International’s Rising Star Award in 2008. Today he is one of the hottest and brightest new designers in New York Fashion Week. Don’t forget to check this collection out for any US readers. This should be a wonderful collection that won’t tear your wallet.

Yayoi Kusama x Louis Vuitton

Avant-garde Japanese artist who has a major obsession with dots. She also hold a record at Christies New York on November 12, 2008 as the living female artist who sold her work for $5.1 million. Be prepare for another lively collection of LV in polka dots this July 2012. I believe this collection will be a big success following the successful collaboration from Sprouse in 2001 and Murakami in 2003.

This will be my last post of this year before I take a long and enjoyable Xmas and New Year holiday in Manchester. Even though it’s the warmest Xmas since the 1920s, but nothing beats family, food and fine wine. This is also, in my opinion, the best time to go shopping – in the Xmas sales, because there are so many bargain’s from great designers, with around 60% – 80% off!!!!

I will definitely be wandering around Harrods’ sale next week because it’s simply the best place for menswear bargains, with an amazing selection of styles and a wide range of  sizes as well.

And these are my latest packing story on The Quarterly winter issue. In case it inspires you to dress up or gives you some idea of what you should grab in the coming sales – ‘Have a great Christmas & Happy New Year!’

This might not be a main fashion story or the cover for a magazine but I’m very proud to work on ST Men’s Style. One of the best men’s style magazine from London produced by Show Media for the Sunday Telegraph, not to be confused with the Sunday Times, this one from the Telegraph is much classier!

I have to say big thanks to Ciara Walshe for giving me the opportunity to work on this issue. She’s an amazing senior Art Director at Show Media who works on all ST magazines from ST Fashion, ST Kids, ST Watches & Jewellery to ST Men’s Style.

Worked for Harper’s Bazaar, ELLE and Wallpaper* in Asia before doesn’t guarantee my success in the UK. This’s small step with ST magazine is a big leap for me, a step closer to a chance of working for Vogue one day. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Relocation has never been easy. After working as a professional stylist in Bangkok for almost 9 years with many prestigious publications. I’m officially living in London and reinvented myself as Pop Kampol. It’s just no one here would be able to spell my surname correctly ‘Likitkanjanakul’.

And after an absence from the fashion world for a few months, the work I did in London for The Quarterly magazine was just published 2 days ago.

I’m really looking forward to November because my first proper fashion spread will be published in a magazine and I can’t wait to show you!
