<p>The clothes in this season are full of the unexpected, such as a formal shirt printed with gun motifs, and a medal-like brooch with the image of an American football helmet.</p>

<p>There are also woollen and silk coats weaved with motif patterns and cut just like a nightgown worn by Oscar Wilde. My favourite pieces in the show are the simple black, plum and camel combination look. These subtle but fresh blend of colours are perfect for wearing in winter.</p>

<p>Prada is the house that creates one of the best shoes range for men, think of their famous platform espadrilles. The shoes in this season are more formal with two tones of colour, with many of them coming decorated with folk embroidery elements. These amazing shoes would refresh anything from casual looking jeans to formal business trousers.</p>

<p><strong>Since the departure of Liz Claiborne&#8217;s CFO Andrew Warren, and the subsequent change in name to Fifth &amp; Pacific, the company has seen a <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/01/09/us-lizclaiborne-idUSTRE8082EX20120109" target="_blank">13%</a> drop in its share price. It seems clear that many fashion houses are now struggling.</strong>  It&#8217;s not just high street brands that have to adapt,  but also many high-end brands are now changing their tactics to stay profitable.</p>
<p>One of the tactics is to target Asia&#8217;s newly rich, especially in China. Prada plans to open <a href="http://www.chinaretailnews.com/2011/10/05/5164-prada-to-open-50-new-stores-in-china-in-next-three-years/" target="_blank">50 new stores in China</a> over the next three years, while Armani group plans on opening <a href="http://www.f-paper.com/?i881813-Armani-plans-annual-sales-in-China-to-add-35-points-_-the-aesthetic-philosophy-of-business-management-and-integration" target="_blank">35 new sales outlets</a> each year. At the same time to keep Dolce &amp; Gabbana&#8217;s exclusive brand image, the company decided to close down D&amp;G, its diffusion line.  They also plan to open 15 new boutiques within the next two years. Mr.Gabbana notes <a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704355304576214512977620514.html" target="_blank">&#8216;American was the last 100 years, China is the next 100&#8242;</a>.</p>

<p>To appeal to Chinese and Asian clientele, luxury houses are now also adopting the strategy of promoting heritage and craftsmanship. They believe when customers understand the culture of the brand, they tend not to hesitate spending more on expensive products. In the video above (from 7.11 min), a group of luxury brand executives are talking about how this strategy works, and how they became successful in China.</p>
<p>All in all, I think it too earlier to tell if all these marketing plans in Asia will prove profitable enough for the luxury brands. As Robert Frank, author of Richistan, wrote in his WSJ blog about &#8216;<a href="http://blogs.wsj.com/wealth/2011/12/08/will-the-chinese-rich-have-a-hard-landing/" target="_blank">Chinese millionaire market</a>&#8216;.</p>
<blockquote><p>The Chinese rich have been supporting markets for everything from Bordeauxs to Birkin bags and Gulfstreams, making up for slack demand in the US and Europe. If the Chinese economy has a hard landing, the newly rich are sure to take a hit. If they lose their consuming confidence, the business of selling to global rich will become a lot tougher.</p></blockquote>
<p>What will happen this year is uncertain, especially with the nightmare of European market. Who will survive? We&#8217;ll have to wait and see.</p>

This is a girl who travels across continents looking for a new habitat.</p>

We worked together to create a unique look that for every single outfit. The fashion shoot also had awesome props made by my assistant, Fay Lamchaiprasert. So super thanks to her too!</p>

<p><strong>Working on the &#8216;What to Pack&#8217; story for <a href="http://www.showmedia.net/the-quarterly/" target="_blank">The Quarterly </a>magazine is always challenging.</strong> For this autumn issue&#8217;s Italian theme, I decided to create a mosaic tiles by printing on paper. This simple technique created the illusion of mosaic floor from the south of Italy.</p>
<p>The work started very early as usual with glueing all the printed paper together. Then selected products for the story from amazing copper python bag by <a href="http://www.zagliani.it/" target="_blank">Zagliani</a>, beautiful green crocodile shoes by <a href="http://www.tods.com/" target="_blank">Tod&#8217;s</a> to shimmering knit jumper by <a href="http://www.prada.com/" target="_blank">Prada</a>.</p>

The images might look very simple but the process behind it is a truly daunting task. I learn something new every time I work on this story and I love it!</p>

<p><strong>Another piece of work I&#8217;m proud of for <a href="http://www.showmedia.net/the-quarterly/" target="_blank">The Quarterly</a> Autumn 2011. This issue is a celebration of Italian culture, art and fashion.</strong> I had the chance to work on the cover for the magazine again. The Art Director and I thought it should be nice to create images that took inspiration from the iconic Italian movie &#8216;La Dolce Vita&#8217;.</p>
<p>The shoot took place at the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrave Square, London. We were so lucky that the director and their staff are very helpful and gave us a permission to use their building to create this fashion set. The fashion story even got a guy that works in the building, Albino Maggioni, stared in our fashion set too.</p>

<p>The shoot started early in the morning with hair and make up. Keeping with the theme I only selected clothes from Italian brands such as Gucci, Prada, Bottega Veneta, Canali to Ermenegildo Zegna.
